Lesliediana asked members to send her ideas about acti= vities that chapter members can participate in over the next year. Several ideas were discussed:
&nbs= p; Torch time days to work together at a place such as Accents Glassworks.
Something similar to Hot Ti=
mes in
the Mountains which is held in
Two day retreats.
Public relations and flyers= to others who may be interested in making glass beads –notices, etc.
Lesliediana re-emphasized that the board will help but= need members to step up and lead individual activities. Lesliediana will call on Anna Bowm= an for Marketing; Jesse Allen & Ann Rhine for planning activities; and Clare Nykolyszyn, Terry D’Addio and Lori Ellis to plan one day event.
Deborah Gibson has been storing the chapter class equi= pment for some time and has asked that we find storage elsewhere. Several members commented that we = should not sell the equipment since the chapter was formed to provide educational opportunities. Others comment= ed that at the time there were no opportunities for classes and now there are several glass shops in the area that bring teachers.
Lesliediana will post this issue on the listserve for discussion. If necessary, cha= pter members we will vote on the issue.
Lori Ellis offered the possibility of space at Accents Glassworks. Lesliediana will investigate storing class equipment at Accents.

As of October we have $3,020.43 in our account. Debby has paid for the Gathering scholarship. Fees have been p= aid for the November GWBS bead show. She said our accounts are about the same level as last year. We made $240 on the Kim Fields class.
Kim Edwards reported on the Northern Virginia Bead Show. Three chapter members participated as new sellers. Although the show was slow, overall it went well.

Terry D’Addio called for approval of minutes from April meeting. She reminded everyone that we did not have a business meeting in July. Minutes from April passed.
Gayle Harner reported that we have 79 members with 2 n= ew members have joined since July.
The board encouraged members to join ISGB.
Member news:
Jinx Garza reminded everyon= e about ISGB Convergence 2.
A scholarship is available = for the 2010 Gathering. Several membe= rs of our chapter –Lesliediana Jones, Clare Nykolyszyn, and Anna Bowman have been recipients. Anna talked = about how wonderful the 2009 gathering was, how much she learned, and feedback on= her work for sale. It is a great educational experience. Anne Rhine suggested that we set a goal to have most of our members attend.
Lori Ellis announced classe= s at Accents Glassworks: Clare Nko= lysyn and Lisa St. Martin will be teaching. There is a storewide Heavy Metal Halloween sale and celebration on October 31st. Other classes include: Nancy Tobey = boro beadmaking January 30 -31, 2010; Chad Trent is organizing a marble flame off sometime next year; Andrew Brown sometime later in the year; and Trey Cornet in August 2010.
Ellen Howse showed the T-sh= irts that have been designed using the SGBMA logo.&n= bsp; Joy Davidson will put them on the website and how to order. They come in black or white in lon= g or short sleeve. Prices depend on size.

After the meeting new member PMC artist Cindy Miller m= ade a presentation on the different types of precious metal clay – silver, copper & bronze. Cindy ha= d a selection of her work to show what works well and what happens when it doesn’t work well. We a= re working with Cindy to develop some PMC classes oriented to the needs of gla= ss bead makers.
